Fourth Round of Bilateral Foreign Offi ce Consultations The fourth round of Bilateral Foreign Office Level Consultations Peru-India was held on 9th August 2006, in Lima. The Peruvian Delegation was led by Ambassador Martha Chavarri Dupuy, Under Secretary for Asia and Pacifi c Basin in the Peruvian Foreign Ministry. The Indian Delegation was led by Joint Secretary (LAC) of the Ministry of External Affairs of India, Ambassador Rengaraj Viswanathan. The latter paid calls to the Minister of Foreign Trade Ms. Mercedes Araoz and to the Deputy Minister Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Peru and Ambassador Gonzalo Gutierrez Reinel. Ambassador Viswanathan, accompanied by the Ambassador of India and the Deputy Chief of Mission of the Embassy of India in Peru, met with the Director of Trade Policy of the Andean Community of Nations, Dr. Christian Espinosa, with whom he addressed issues related to the implementation of the CAN-India cooperation mechanism and the current situation of that sub-regional organisation after the withdrawal of Venezuela. Fifth Round of Bilateral Foreign Offi ce Consultations The fifth round of Bilateral Foreign Office Level Consultations was held in New Delhi on 13th July 2012, after a gap of seven years. The Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs of Peru, H.E. Mr. Jose Beraun Aranibar headed the Peruvian side. The Secretary (West) of the Ministry of External Affairs of India, headed the Indian side. Two instruments were signed: the MoU on Cooperation in Geology and Mineral Resources and the MoU for setting up of a Centre of Excellence in Information Technology (CEIT). Fifth Round of Bilateral Foreign Offi ce Consultations in 2012 First Peru-India Joint Commission The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on the Establishment of the Peru-India Joint Commission, an intergovernmental consultation mechanism to promote, Fifth Round of Bilateral Foreign Offi ce Consultations in 2012 Fifth Round of Bilateral Foreign Offi ce Consultations in 2012 strengthen and diversify bilateral relations, was signed in Lima on 28th October 2013, by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Peru, Eda Rivas Franchini and the Ambassador of India in Peru, Manpreet Vohra. This MoU was signed during the visit of the Vice President of India, H.E. Mr. Mohammad Hamid Ansari to Peru. It was agreed that the Joint Commission would be held between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Peru and India. Delegations are to be headed by their respective Foreign Ministers and may include offi cials and experts responsible for agreed fi elds of cooperation. The Foreign Ministers may, through mutual consultations on specifi c circumstances, also delegate their senior offi cials to head their respective delegations. Meetings would be convened alternatively in Peru and India once every two years on dates that are mutually agreed through diplomatic channels. A preparatory meeting of the Joint Commission between Peru and India was held on 28th November 2014. The meeting was chaired by Ambassador Raul Patiño Alvistur, Director General of Asia and Oceania, with the presence of H.E. Mr. Javier Paulinich, Ambassador of Peru to India.
