DIGITAL UP MAGAZINE LIGHT
Luminescence
For this series, Taylor used electroluminescent wire (EL). A current is passed through a copper wire causing the surrounding phosphor coating to emit light. The wire was wrapped around models together with specially designed clothes. To capture light traces and create new shapes, Michael used long exposures
- from a few seconds to several minutes - while the model was moving in a darkened studio. Such light drawings formed unusual forms and shapes, but they remained recognizable due to the human nature of models. →
