experimented in that art field also. Light has always been an inspiration for artists who think of the true nature of light. James Turrell uses art history as an inspiration, from the 17th century
old masters Rembrandt and Vermeer, via impressionists Monet and Renoir, to the modern American painters such as Mark Rothko, Barnett Newman, and Ad Reinhardt. They all reflected about light and incorporated light into their oeuvre, but Turrell takes light onto the next level. Instead of using paint to depict light, he uses light itself. The essence of James Turrell’s art lies in liberating the light from

Turrell changes the way we perceive light and the way we feel about light. He considers light the most elementary thing in existence: “Light is food. We drink the light with our skin, and it is converted into vitamin D.” Let there be light….
