PROFILE Nicolas Obéry I work on my portraits according to my moods and fancies – if I’m listening to a piece of music from a film, for example, or according to current events at the time. Q: Your portraits with 3D graphical elements give a unique sense to characters. How do you achieve this? I create a mix of photography, digital drawing and 3D for the lighting, chrome and textures. I put everything together with Photoshop at the end. Q: I feel a lightness in your work. Is it really so in the realization phase? I try to leave enough black space in my compositions and I often add butterflies, a symbol of metamorphosis, of femininity, and also of the elevation of the soul of the deceased.
