PROFILE
Nicolas Obéry
I work on my portraits according to my moods
and fancies – if I’m listening to a piece of music
from a film, for example, or according to current
events at the time.
Q: Your portraits with 3D graphical elements
give a unique sense to characters. How do you
achieve this?
I create a mix of photography, digital drawing
and 3D for the lighting, chrome and textures.
I put everything together with Photoshop at
the end.
Q: I feel a lightness in your work. Is it really so
in the realization phase?
I try to leave enough black space in my
compositions and I often add butterflies, a
symbol of metamorphosis, of femininity, and
also of the elevation of the soul of the deceased.
Q: Digital Up is an inspirational and
educational magazine. Can you describe
your process of work, from the concept
to implementation? You use photography,
Photoshop and finally paper print ...
I do a lot of photography myself – portraits, all
