Another series also tries to do the impossible — to create sculptures out of something that doesn’t have a shape! It’s water again, but this time pure, transparent and visible only by means of light. In this series, Shinichi Maruyama exemplifies the Japanese concept of wabi-sabi — the beauty of things imperfect, impermanent, and incomplete. The elegance and accuracy of these shapes remind us that beauty and perfection can disappear or be broken in a fraction of a second, just like it was made.
