Three Pine Tree students won honorable mention at the National Scholastic Art and Writing Awards. Justice (Pamela) Brown, Veronica Montoya and Christopher Garza all received honorable mention for their photographs created in Pine Tree High School's Digital Photography class.

Founded in 1923, the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards are the nation's longest-running, most prestigious educational initiative supporting student achievement in the visual and literary arts. This organization recognizes the vision, ingenuity, and talent of our nation’s youth, and provides opportunities for creative teens to be celebrated. Since its founding, the Awards have established an amazing track record for identifying the early promise of our nation’s most accomplished and prolific creative leaders. Alumni include artists Andy Warhol, Sylvia Plath, Truman Capote, Richard Avedon, Robert Redford, Alan Arkin, Zac Posen, Ken Burns, and Richard Linklater to name just a few.
