along with them. But, she felt unsettled. She noted a sense of yearning. And she lost the sense of peace in her soul. Only God and Sr. Faustina knew what was going on with her interiorly. After only a few minutes at Jozefinek; expectedly, Sr. Faustina informed the Sisters that it was now time to go home. She justified to them that they had to return to the convent before dark, and they had better start moving, since there was still quite a distance to go. They were back in their House and were in the hallway, when the Mother Superior saw them. She asked Sr. Faustina what was happening. She replied that they had already come back from the trip to avoid returning when it got too dark. Before long, Sr. Faustina went to the chapel. As soon as she entered, Jesus ordered her to tell the truth to the Mother Superior: That they came back, not to reach home before dark, but that Jesus had taken away her heart. She humbly asked the Lord’s forgiveness for everything that she did that displeased Him. Although it was quite difficult for her to do so, she told the Mother Superior the true reason why they came back so soon. Then, Jesus compassionately forgave her, and favored her again with great joy in her soul. “She understood that apart from God there is no contentment anywhere” (Diary, # 42). II B.19 The Greater the Suffering, the Greater the Claim to Loving God More 164 (Diary, # 303): At some point, while suffering much acutely, Sr. Faustina left her work momentarily, to say a prayer to Jesus for the strength to keep on going. When she returned to her work, she was “filled with enthusiasm and joy.” One of the Sisters noticed that she “looked so radiant.” The Sister also commented that God must not have been giving her sufferings, but only consolations.
