feeling sick (possibly from her incipient tubercular illness). Despite the attentive and kindhearted
care of her Superiors and her doctor, she did not improve. She was concerned about being a
burden to others. But most of all, she grieved twofold when she overheard false claims made
against her, such as allegedly faking her illness, which she endured for a long time. But, at some
point, she sought the Lord on her deep misery about the situation. And Jesus responded with
great compassion but also matter-of-factly, “You are not living for yourself but for souls, and
other souls will profit from your sufferings. Your prolonged suffering will give them the light and
strength to accept my will” (Diary, # 67).

A day after Holy Communion, Jesus counseled Sr. Faustina on the ways or the means to
gain souls for God, “My daughter, give Me souls. Know that it is your mission to win souls for
Me by prayer and sacrifice and by encouraging them to trust in My mercy” (Diary, # 1690).

(Diary, # 43): Once, Sr. Faustina was favored with a vision that two Sisters were about to
commit mortal sin, and thus, merit Hell. Sr. Faustina then petitioned the Lord that she would
make acts of reparation for them, that they may repent, and not commit grave sin. Jesus
responded, “Go to Mother Superior and tell her that these two Sisters are in danger of
committing mortal sin” (Diary, # 43). The following day, Sr. Faustina told the Mother Superior
about it. But, by that time, one of the Sisters had already repented and the other was genuinely
battling hard against it.
