(10.7) When Chosen Souls Distrust Jesus or Debase His Mercy Jesus expressed His grief to Sr. Faustina concerning the peoples’ “distrust” of Him and inability to grasp His mercy. He told Sr. Faustina: “Distrust on the part of souls is tearing at My insides. The distrust of a chosen soul causes Me even greater pain; despite My inexhaustible love for them, they do not trust Me. Even My death is not enough for them. Woe to the soul that abuses these (gifts)” (Diary, # 50). At another time, during the adoration of the Blessed Sacrament at the chapel, Jesus told Sr. Faustina, “My Heart is sorrowful because even chosen souls do not understand the greatness of My mercy. Their relationship (with Me) is, in certain ways, imbued with mistrust. Oh, how much that wounds My Heart! Remember My Passion, and if you do not believe My words, at least believe My wounds” (Diary, # 379). II A.11 Jesus’ Compassion for Repentant Sinners Versus Reproach for the Hypocrites (Diary, # 1579): Sr. Faustina wrote in her Diary that she suffered greatly from the hypocrites who preached one thing but did otherwise.
