sinners who sincerely repent. The greater the sinner, the greater his right to God’s mercy (Diary, # 423). (2.1) The Angels Sin and Suffer Swift Penalty; Man Sins but Secures Divine Mercy 86 (Diary, # 1332): While meditating on the sin of the fallen angels, Sr. Faustina asked Jesus why these angels were penalized instantaneously as soon as they committed sin. She heard Jesus’ voice say to her, “Because of their profound knowledge of God. No person on earth, even though a great saint, has such knowledge of God as an angel has.” Sr. Faustina appreciated the Lord’s merciful Heart towards her. For He forgave her repeatedly; a wretched sinner who sought Him with a repentant heart. It was in contrast to the swift and irrevocable punishment that He decreed to fallen angels. On the angels, the Church teaches that they are created pure spirits; superior to man in their understanding, intellectual knowledge, power, free will, as well as, in their love for God, love for themselves, and love for creation (Cf.
