( 1 Jn 5:1 , 20 ) xx is the Holy or the Guiltless One ( Heb 7:26 ); 79xxi He “ knew no sin ” and did not merit penalty ( 2 Cor 5:21 ). xxii He is also the “ just Judge ” ( Acts 10:42 ; Jn 5:30 ); 80xxiii but for the sake of man , He came as “ Love and Mercy ” Himself ( Diary , # 1074 ) as well as his “ merciful Savior ” ( Diary , # 1541 ). 81
Jesus Christ ’ s Incarnation paved the way for Divinity to show its “ infinite goodness ” to man ( Rom 11:32 ; Diary , # 1745-1749 ). xxiv But , as Pope / St . John Paul II teaches , at the same time , Christ ’ s Incarnation “ strikes at evil and suffering at its very roots ,” as well unites through Him , the “ salvific way to the whole world of suffering in which man shares .” 82 Christ voluntarily and fully embraced the “ curse of the law ” ( Gal 3:13 ). xxv And in embracing fallen man ’ s “ curse ” ( Deut 21:23 ), xxvi He also took upon Himself , his guilt , penalty for his sin , complete disfigurement ( Is 53:7-8 ), xxvii suffering ( Is 53:4-5 ), xxviii as well as the horrific , bloody , salvific work on the Cross ( Is 53:12 ; Diary , # 1747 ). xxix All of these , in accord with the mystery of God ’ s eternal salvific will ( CCC 599 , 620 ). It testifies to Christ ’ s total sacrificial love ( Jn 13:1 ) xxx to deliver “ futile ” man ( Rom 1:21-23 ; 1 Pt 1:18 ), xxxi as well as to rectify his “ moral evil .” 83 And Jesus Christ ’ s mission endures through His Church to this day , as a “ seal of His mercy ” ( Diary , # 1749 ). For man has to be “ brought back ” to his ultimate purpose of love , which is “ into the perfect unity of the Blessed Trinity ” ( CCC , 260 ; Jn 17:21-23 ; Diary , # 1758 , 1783 ). 84xxxii
But “ through the dramas of evil and sin ,” God , the Giver of “ every good and every perfect gift ” ( Jm 1:17 ), xxxiii “ by His grace … brought the greatest of goods : the glorification of Christ and ( man ’ s ) redemption . But for all that , evil never becomes good ” ( CCC , 312 ).
