Sr . Faustina ’ s death did not end her task for the Divine Mercy mission . As she wrote in her Diary , “ I feel certain that my mission will not come to an end upon my death , but will begin . O doubting souls , I will draw aside for you the veils of heaven to convince you of God ’ s goodness , so that you will no longer continue to wound with your distrust the sweetest Heart of Jesus . God is Love and Mercy ” ( Diary , # 281 ). Over the years , Jesus confirmed her vocation in the Divine Mercy mission that would continue even after death . But , He also warned her about the risk of damnation that souls take , when they refuse His mercy :
My daughter , be at peace . Do as I tell you . Your thoughts are united to My thoughts … You are the secretary of My mercy ; I have chosen you for that office in this and the next life . That is how I want it to be in spite of all the opposition they will give you ” ( Diary , # 1605 )…
Do not fear , My little child , you are not alone . Fight bravely , because My arm is supporting you ; fight for the salvation of souls , exhorting them to trust in My mercy , as that is your task in this life and in the life to come . After these words , I received a deeper understanding of Divine Mercy . Only that soul who does not want it ( mercy ) will be damned , for God condemns no one ( Diary , # 1452 ).
Just as Sr . Faustina predicted it , the Divine Mercy mission was suppressed , albeit temporarily on March 6 , 1959 , when the Holy See banned all of the Divine Mercy devotions as well as the spread of it . 62 The “ confusion ” seemed to stem from the massive errors that included omissions in copying or gaps in the recording of the texts and the pages from the original Diary , linguistic style uncertainties , misinterpretations , defective language translations that kept the earlier mistakes , as well as theological problems that arose from all the tangled works . 63 The prohibition spanned 20 years ; but it was finally reversed on April 15 , 1978 by the Congregation for the Doctrine of Faith ( Diary , Endnotes , 666 ).
