faithful soul, “You are My delightful dwelling place; My Spirit rests in you.” Sr. Faustina wrote
in her Diary, (Diary, # 347):
Twelve o’clock, December 25, 1934. Midnight Mass. As Holy Mass began, I
immediately felt a great interior recollection; joy filled my soul. During the
Offertory, I saw Jesus on the altar, incomparably beautiful. The whole time the Infant
kept looking at everyone, stretching out His little hands. During the elevation, the Child
was not looking towards the chapel but up to Heaven. After the elevation, He looked at us
again, but just for a short while, because He was broken up and eaten by the priest in the
usual manner. His pinafore was now white. The next day, I saw the same thing, and on
the third day as well. It is difficult for me to express the joy of my soul. The vision was
repeated at the three Masses in the same was as in the first ones (Diary, # 347).

Sr. Faustina wrote in her Diary:
During Holy Mass, I saw Jesus stretched out on the Cross, and He said to me, My
pupil, have great love for those who cause you suffering. Do good to those who

control your feelings. You will recognize that you have love if, after having
experienced annoyance and contradiction, you do not lose your peace, but pray
for those who have made you suffer and wish them well (Diary, # 1628).

(7.1) Amid the Odds, a Jewish Woman was Baptized on her Deathbed (Diary, # 916)
Sr. Faustina wrote in her Diary on the moving story of how a Jewish woman received the
“great grace” of Baptism on her deathbed, amid difficulties, including opposition from the
woman’s Jewish relatives. The woman was in a private room, adjacent to Sr. Faustina’s room in
the hospital, at the time she was confined there. Sr. Faustina prayed in front of the Divine Mercy
Image (the same Image that the Lord had asked her to be painted for Him previously), feeling
inspired to do so. She felt immense joy, for the Lord answered her petition for the sacramental
