(3.5) Jesus Encourages “Frequent Communions” (Diary, # 1487) On frequently receiving Holy Communion, Jesus engaged in a dialogue with a soul, as noted in the “Conversation of the Merciful God with a Suffering Soul.” In this conversation, Jesus told Sr. Faustina, “Understand that the strength by which you bear sufferings comes from frequent Communions. So approach this Fountain of mercy often, to draw with the vessel of trust whatever you need.” (3.6) The Holy Eucharist Transforms the Soul (Diary, # 1392, 1404) (Diary, #1404): Sr. Faustina wrote in her Diary that at age seven, when she spent time in adoration of the Blessed Sacrament during a Vesper Service, the love of God began stirring her tiny heart. Since that time on, she observed increasing “understanding of divine things” and “strength of soul.” Additionally, she felt her own love for Him “growing constantly to the point of closest intimacy.” Through the years, it was not surprising that during her convent life, whenever she was not absorbed in her assigned task, she would “spend all of my free moments in conversation with Him, my Master.” (Diary, # 1392): Sr. Faustina wrote in her Diary on the many graces that she obtained from frequently receiving Jesus in Holy Communion. The blessings included, among others, her “complete transformation” by the “holy fire” of the Lord, the joy of being the Lord’s “dwelling place” or His “temple… continually,” as well as her direct interactions with the Lord (Diary, # 1385). And, she wrote humbly in her Diary, “All the good that is in me is due to Holy Communion. I owe everything to it. I feel that this holy fire has transformed me completely. Oh, how happy I am to be a dwelling place for You, O Lord! My heart is a temple in which You dwell continually.” 180
