1 . Opt to endure “ that which costs and humiliates me most …( for ) the more miserable my soul is , the more I feel the ocean of God ’ s mercy engulfing me and giving me strength and great power ” ( Diary , # 225 ). 2 . Recall Christ ’ s Passion at every Confession , to stir repentance of heart ( Diary , # 225 ). 3 . Always make a perfect Act of Contrition and spend more time in this type of sorrow for sin ( Diary , # 225 ); not only at the time of Confession , but also during every Examination of Conscience , especially before going to bed ( Diary , # 377 ).
4 . Before going into the confessional , “ I shall first enter the open and most merciful Heart of the Savior ” ( Diary , # 225 ).
5 . After Confession , “ I shall rouse in my soul great gratitude to the Holy Trinity for this wonderful and inconceivable miracle of mercy that is wrought in my soul ” ( Diary , # 225 ).
6 . “ One more word : A soul which sincerely wants to advance in perfection must observe strictly the advice given by the Spiritual Director . There is as much holiness as there is dependence ” ( Diary , # 377 ).

( Diary , 975 ): At some point , Jesus told Sr . Faustina , “ Pray for souls that they be not afraid to approach the Tribunal of My mercy ( Confession ). Do not grow weary of praying for sinners . You know what a burden their souls are to My Heart . Relieve My deathly sorrow ; dispense My mercy .”
( Diary , # 971 ): On February 19 , 1937 , Sr . Faustina was asked for prayers . She was aware that the Lord gave her “ an extraordinary spirit of prayer ” and that she lived in union with Him .
