Sr . Faustina wrote in her Diary , “ O humdrum days , filled with darkness , I look upon you with a solemn and festive eye . How great and solemn is the time that gives us the chance to gather merits for eternal heaven ! I understand how the saints made use of it .”
III B . 24 On Union with God ’ s Will and the Pursuit of Perfection and Holiness ( 24.1 ) “ The Perfect Fulfillment of God ’ s Will is Maturity in Sanctity ” ( Diary , # 666 ) Based on Sr . Faustina ’ s Diary , to be perfect and holy means to do the will of God . Then , the crowning glory of doing God ’ s will is “ maturity in sanctity ” or sainthood . On the other hand , although Lucifer was a most enlightened spirit , He defied God . He refused to do God ’ s will despite knowing that God is man ’ s Perfection and ultimate Goal Himself ( CCC , 229 , 520 . Sr . Faustina wrote in her Diary :
An extraordinary peace entered my soul when I reflected on the fact that despite great difficulties I had always faithfully followed God ’ s will , as I knew it . I understood that all striving for perfection and all sanctity consists in doing God ’ s Will . Perfect fulfillment of God ’ s will is maturity in sanctity ; there is no room for doubt here . To receive God ’ s light and recognize what God wants of us , and yet not do it , is a great offense against the majesty of God . Such a soul deserves to be completely forsaken by God . It resembles Lucifer , who had a great light , but did not do God ’ s will . O Jesus grant me the grace to put Your Will into practice as I have come to know it , O God ” ( Diary , # 666 ).
