distinct assistance and guardianship . Thereafter , Sr . Faustina recited the three specific prayers daily for St . Joseph ’ s special protection .
III A . 16 On Suffering , Prayer , and the Help of the Holy Angel ( Diary , # 1202 )
Sr . Faustina wrote in her Diary that at the time , she was suffering greatly , body and soul . To make matters worse , it also kept her from attending the Holy Mass and receiving Holy Communion . And so , she kept on saying this same prayer repeatedly , “ May the Lord ’ s will be done . I know that Your bounty is without limit .” Suddenly , she heard an Angel sing out her “ whole life history and everything it comprised .” This left her quite astonished , but it also “ strengthened ” her during her great ordeal .
III A . 17 Suffering and Praying for Souls are Drawn from God ’ s Great Love for Man 208 ( 17.1 ) On Praying for Ungrateful Souls especially for the “ Souls Chosen by God ” 209 ( Diary , # 384 ): Sr . Faustina wrote in her Diary that she spent an hour of Adoration at the chapel . While meditating on the Passion of Jesus , she felt a sudden “ terrible pain ” in her soul . She understood that her great “ pain ” was related to the ungratefulness to the Lord God , of many souls on earth , but most especially of the “ souls chosen by God .” They wound Jesus ’ Heart very deeply and painfully . She then spent the rest of the hour , praying for these souls and imploring God ’ s mercy upon them , in union with Christ ’ s Passion and pain . She also renewed her beautiful , daily , solemn prayer of sacrifice , which she composed , “ God and Souls . Act of Oblation ;” which she concluded with the prayer that Jesus Himself taught her , “ O Blood and Water which gushed forth from the Heart of Jesus as a Fount of Mercy for us , I trust in You ” ( Diary , # 309 ).
