She endured every ordeal and all of the tortures meted out to Jesus during His Passion: in the
Garden of Olives, in the dungeon after the arrest, as well as while He was in front of the judges.
Sr. Faustina’s great martyrdom in union with Christ’s Agony lasted about three hours. She then
continued to pray until eleven o’clock at night. At that point, Jesus told her, “Lie down and take
your rest. I have let you experience in three hours what I suffered during the whole night.”
Through it all, she grew to appreciate the great depth of God’s love and mercy for man. And, she
would never exchange any moment of it, for any of the world’s delights.
(9.4) On Christ’s Agony and Reparation for the Aborted Unborn Babies
(Diary, # 1276): On September 16, 1937, Sr. Faustina wanted very much to make a Holy
Hour before the Blessed Sacrament, but God willed differently. Instead, He let her experience
His great Agony in the Garden for the third time, “in order to offer reparation to God for the
souls murdered in the wombs of wicked mothers.”
Sr. Faustina went through an agonizing physical ordeal, in union with Christ, twice
before; the first time at the Sanatorium. Typically, beginning at eight o’clock at night, she was
“seized with such violent pains that (she) had to go to bed at once.” For three hours, she endured
severe pain, at times to the point of losing consciousness. Medicines could not help her. She also
threw up whatever she tried to swallow, including her medicines. By eleven o’clock at night, the
pain would stop spontaneously; and then, she would be able to fall asleep. But, the next day, she
felt very much drained of energy. These bouts of relentless pain left the doctors baffled,
especially since no medicine, including injections, could relieve her. She told the doctors that she
never had this kind of affliction before. She did realize that if her suffering could save a baby
from being slaughtered in the mother’s womb, she would accept with humility and love whatever
suffering it pleased God to send her.
