Jesus told Sr. Faustina, “My daughter, I want to instruct you on how to rescue souls
through sacrifice and prayer. You will save more souls through prayer and suffering than will a
missionary through his teaching and sermons alone” (Diary, # 1767).
III A.2 When Wronged, Act with Love for God and Pray for the Enemy (Diary, # 1768)
Jesus shared with Sr. Faustina, God’s viewpoint on love of neighbor, particularly when
offended. In everything, the soul should be “guided” by love for God for He desires the good of
those souls who caused him grief, as well. He also forgives them and prays for them who are the
enemies of his peace. For as Jesus pointed out, “Know that whatever good you do to any soul, I
accept it as if you had done it to Me.” (Diary, # 1768)
III A.3 On Becoming a “Sacrifice of Living Love” for God and for Souls (Diary, # 320, 1767)
(Diary, # 320): Jesus told Sr. Faustina that a prayer of atonement for souls is very
pleasing to Him, especially when done by a virtuous soul, “The prayer of a humble and loving
soul disarms the anger of My Father, and draws down an ocean of blessings.”
(Diary, # 1767): Jesus also told Sr. Faustina that ultimately, to be fully in accord with
God, as well as to merit the “power for whom you intercede,” He demanded that a soul be a
“sacrifice of living love.” This type of soul is a sacrificial holocaust: one who is alive but dead
to himself, quiet, unseen, and pervaded with love and prayer; but also chaste and humble (Diary,
# 1767). As Jesus told Sr. Faustina:
You must be annihilated, destroyed, living as if you were dead in the most secret
depths of your being. You must be destroyed in that secret depth where a human
eye has never penetrated; then will I find in you a pleasing sacrifice, a holocaust
full of sweetness and fragrance. And, great will be your power for whom you
intercede. Outwardly, your sacrifice must look like this: silent, hidden, permeated
with love, imbued with prayer. I demand My daughter that your sacrifice be pure
