(35.2) When the Lord Demands Purity, He Gives Provision for Purity (Diary, # 40) Sr. Faustina wrote sometime in 1929, that on several occasions, she attempted to run away from the Lord. For she suspected that the supernatural visitations to her were from an evil spirit. There was the added burden also from other people who were alleging that bad spirits may be influencing her. But the Lord never meant to abandon her amid her trials. At some point, during the Holy Mass, but before Holy Communion, the Sisters made a renewal of their vows. Suddenly, Jesus appeared by her side. He was clad in a white garment with a golden girdle around His waist. He told Sr. Faustina, “I give you eternal love that your purity may be untarnished and as a sign that you will never be subject to temptations against purity.” Jesus then took off His golden cincture and tied it around her waist. Thereafter, she never had any attacks against this virtue. She understood later that purity was one of the greatest graces, which the Virgin Mary obtained for her. Since then, Sr. Faustina developed a greater devotion to the Mother of God. It was an answer to her prayer since she had been asking for this grace from Her for many years. Mary also taught her how to love God interiorly and how to carry out His will in all things.
