Custom Wood Racks

An easy way to give your truck more character

Custom Corner

In this tutorial we are going to make some wood racks for a truck. The wood we will use for the racks will be some small craft sticks and some toothpicks. We don’t want the round pointed toothpicks for this. The flat ones will be perfect for this. This really isn’t too complicated but can turn out really cool.

You'll need to decide what style and how high you would like your racks. A quick Google image search can give you some ideas. For this tutorial I’m going to go with a simple two rail rack.

I chose the Hot Wheels Custom ‘56 Ford Truck to put the racks on.

First measure how long the rails will be. You can use a ruler for this, but I like just using the truck bed. As mentioned earlier, my racks will have two rails on each side so I cut four toothpicks to that length.
