New Academic Representative
Dr . Janet van Vlymen
The College is pleased to welcome Dr . Janet van Vlymen to the Council as the academic representative from Queen ’ s University .
Dr . van Vlymen is Associate Professor at Queen ’ s University . She is also Director Pre-Surgical Screening Services and Deputy Head , Anesthesiology & Perioperative Medicine at Kingston General Hospital .
Dr . van Vlymen received her medical degree and postgraduate training at Queen ’ s University . She did a fellowship in Ambulatory Anesthesia at University of Texas , Southwestern Medical Center , Dallas .
Dr . van Vlymen replaces Dr . John Jeffrey who served on Council since 2009 .

The policy emphasizes that physicians must accept new patients in a manner that is fair , transparent , and respectful of the rights , autonomy , dignity and diversity of all prospective patients .
