The MINC allows authorized user organizations to link their databases (or selected parts), thus providing a “common currency” to allow the accurate identification of physicians across Canada, he said. Dr. Rocco Gerace, College Registrar, said obtaining a MINC is simply the professional thing to do. “When doctors provide consent to allow us to submit their information to MINC, they are responsibly recognizing the important role that accurate and up-to-date databases play in medical regulation and health-care planning. Some of the organizations currently using the MINC system include: - Canadian Medical Association (CMA) - Ontario Medical Association (OMA) - Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC) - College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC) - all Colleges of Physicians and Surgeons in Canada - the Medical Council of Canada (MCC) - Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA) - All Ontario medical schools In order to get your MINC, simply fill out the consent form on the College’s Members’ section of the website www.cpso.on.ca. Upon receiving your consent, we will submit the following information to MINC: name(s), gender, date of birth, country of birth and year and university of graduation (note: previous names if applicable and other identifiers if necessary to confirm identity may also be submitted).
