Introducing new President
and Vice-President
Dr. Carol Leet, Dr. Joel Kirsh elected to lead Council for 2014-15 year

Dr. Carol Leet, a Brampton pediatrician, is the College’s
new President.
Dr. Leet attended medical school at Queen’s University and is currently affiliated with William Osler Health
Centre, Brampton.
Dr. Leet was returned to Council in 2014 for a third term
in District 5. She started at the College 13 years ago as a
member of the Complaints Committee. Eventually she
assumed the role of chair of the committee, which has
since been renamed the Inquiries, Complaints and Reports
Committee (ICRC).
In 2010, Dr. Leet chaired the working group on the Test
Results Management policy. She currently chairs the
working group on the Decision-Making at the End of
Life policy review.
In addition to chairing the ICRC, Dr. Leet has also
participated on the Executive, Finance, Governance, and
Outreach Committees.
In the coming year, Dr. Leet will chair the Executive Committee. Please read our interview with Dr. Leet on page 51.
Dr. Joel Kirsh, a pediatric cardiac electrophysiologist
at the Hospital for Sick Children, is the College’s new
Vice-President. Dr. Kirsh attended medical school at the
University of Toronto followed by postgraduate training
in Toronto, London and Boston, eventually returning to
Toronto as staff in the Division of Cardiology at Sick Kids.
He is also cross-appointed in the Cardiac Critical Care
program.
Dr. Kirsh is also the Founder and Medical Director of
Camp Oki, which he operates through the Labatt Family
Heart Centre.
Dr. Kirsh came to Council in 2011 as an elected member
from District 10. He now sits at the Council table as an
academic representative from the University of Toronto.
Dr. Kirsh was the chair of the working group that developed the College’s eHealth position.
This year, he will sit on the College’s Executive and
Quality Assurance Committees.
