A caution-in-person is issued
by the ICRC when there is a
significant concern about conduct
or practice that can have a direct
impact on patient care, safety, or
the public interest if it is not addressed. It is one of the most serious
outcomes, short of a referral to
discipline, that the Committee can

change for both the public and
medical profession and consultations conducted to date have clearly
indicated that some members of the
medical profession have concerns
about fairness in an environment
where more and more information
is made public.
To ensure that the public and
profession have a meaningful opportunity to provide feedback, the
CPSO Council decided to extend
the by-law consultation period

the changes that we are proposing,”
said Dr. Rocco Gerace, College

The College is working together with other health regulators in considering making additional
information publicly available about the health-care professionals that we regulate. In Phase 2 of this
initiative, the College is proposing amendments to Section 49. (1) of the General By-Law, which sets
out what information about members is included on the public register. We are proposing that the
following information about physicians be included on the public register:
1. Cautions-in-Person (ICRC outcome)
2. Specified Continuing Education or Remediation Program Orders (ICRC outcome)
3. Criminal Charges
4. Licences in other jurisdictions
