Letter From The Editor
As your newsletter editor, I would like to introduce myself: Nadja Alfonso Jean-
Denis. Together with my team and co-editors (Rayne, Shannon and Elizabeth), I hope
to provide you with useful information about the Diagnostic Medical Sonography
program here at EFSC. We just began our adventure into the sonography world.
Like many students at EFSC, I am an immigrant. Our class of 2021 has students that
come from a variety of different countries including England, Germany, Guyana and
Dominica. We are all looking to create a fruitful and rewarding future for ourselves
and our families. Having a diverse body of students helps us to share and spread new
ideas. It helps us to learn from each other and to be able to learn from each other’s
cultural backgrounds. Many of us want to enter the health care field because we like
to help people and make lives better. However, it is not always easy to figure out the
right career in a field that has lots of different pathways and is constantly growing. I
am like many other students at EFSC, making a career change during the middle stage
of my life. Juggling school and family can be difficult, but it can also be very rewarding
and make you feel accomplished.
We will be sharing our experiences with you through this newsletter and hope that it
provides some insight into the field of Diagnostic Medical Sonography.
Sincerely,
Nadja Alfonso Jean-Denis
