God is like a good and loving father. He wants to adopt children and take care
of them. We are the people He created, but we have to make the choice to
accept Him because we are not yet godly. For instance, if a parent went into an
adoption agency looking for a child, they would look for a child who wanted to
get to know them. They would choose a child who would, at least, respect and
believe that they could be a family. With family comes rules and expectations
that each person accepts so that the family can grow together and become
strong. On the other hand, a parent looking to adopt would not go after a
rebellious child who did not like them or who were not willing to believe in or
respect them. The child is able to make the choice and that is what God has
given us; a choice to get to know Him. God already gave Himself to us. Now,
we need to go after Him. He is looking for people who really want Him so He
hides Himself even though He is also right in front of us. When we follow Him,
He reveals Himself.

God hides.
Verily thou art a God that hidest thyself, O God of Israel, the Saviour.

We can find the God who loves.
I love them that love Me; and those that seek Me early shall find Me.
(Proverbs 8:17 KJV)

God blesses those who look for Him and respect Him.
Blessed are they that keep his testimonies, and that seek him with the
whole heart. (Psalms 119:2 KJV)

Not many will seek Him.
For all seek their own, not the things which are Jesus Christ's.
(Philippians 2:21 KJV)
