PGA De Catalunya (Stadium Course)
The PGA de Catalunya golf course on Catalonia’s Costa Brava has
been voted one of the ten best golf courses in Europe. It truly is a
stunning course with the Pyrenees as a backdrop, which only adds to
the magic. PGA Catalunya Golf Course was designed by Neil Coles
and Angel Gallardo and after only opening at the end of 1998, has
already hosted the Sarazen World Open in 1999 and the Spanish
Open in 2000, the only course to host two European Tour events
within 10 months of opening. In November 2008 the finals of the
European Tour Qualifying School were held on both the Stadium
and Tour Courses and nine years later history was repeated when the
PGA Catalunya once again held the Spanish Open (Open de España)
in April 2009. This golf resort is located 50 minutes from Barcelona
and 15 minutes from Girona.
Costa Brava Golf Course
The 18-hole Costa Brava Golf course inaugurated in 1968 was
designed by Hamilton Stutt & Co. It combines a very technical
course in the first round with a more relaxed one in the second.
The first nine holes, surrounded by pine and cork oak forests,
differ from the other nine located on the flat with very wide
fairways, leading to the 18th hole. The Costa Brava Golf course
boasts a magnificent ‘masia’ (country house) built in 1841, which
serves as the clubhouse. The Costa Brava Golf Club lies only 4
Km. from the well-known beaches of Platja d’Aro and St. Feliu de
Guixols, first-class tourist places, where you can find all kind of
facilities, as well as a great variety of hotels and restaurants.
