Brora One of the joys of Brora is that at 125 years old little has changed since the original design… you won’t find any distance markers on fairways. This James Braid-designed course is all the better for it. Brora is one of his great legacies and greatest gifts to lovers of links golf. Dunes roll and sway in hypnotic rhythm like a swelling sea, with holes flowing up, down and in between. The course is a traditional out and back affair and, as at nearby Royal Dornoch, the greens are spectacular. A small burn slides across the middle to the bay, creating some intriguing challenges, and the resident sheep and greens surrounded by electric fencing merely add to the uniqueness of this very special course. Always hit for what you can see and be sure to play the course twice. www.broragolf.co.uk 76
