1 - RORY MCILROYS AMAZING STROKE IN HONDA
CLASSIC.
Rory McIlroy ended up as No. 59 in the recent Honda Classic
and had quite some problems especially during round three.
One of the problems came at the 6th hole, where his ball
ended under a tree. McIlroy decided to play the ball as it lay.
a) You will only have three minutes to search for the ball
(not 5 minutes as we have now).
b) You will no longer have the possibility to drop “on the
other side” of a red water hazard – and water hazards will
be called “penalty areas”.
c) When deeming your ball unplayable in a bunker, you will
be allowed to drop a ball on the “straight line” outside the
bunker…but it will cost you a two stroke penalty!
A few (Rules) comments to his great stroke: d) When measuring e.g. relief, “one club length” will be
changed to “20 inches” and “two club lengths” will be
changed to “80 inches”.
a) You are allowed to improve the surroundings, when you
approach the ball, but only if you use the last intrusive
method. Therefore you need to be very careful when
approaching the ball! e) A lot of the penalties under the current rules will
be removed, e.g. the penalty for removing loose
impediments in a bunker.
