times, the expertise of Dr Martin Hawtree ensures
it continues its place in the higher echelons of all
golf rankings.
On its closure in 2014, the five acre site was
acquired by Lahinch Golf Club and subsequently
transformed into a short game practice area of
stunning quality.
The new short game academy opened in 2016
and reflects the architectural genius of Dr. Martin
Hawtree and the exceptional skills of Course
Superintendent Brian McDonagh and his team. It
consists of a large tee from where golfers play to
three target greens within a range of 50 to 100
yards; a bunker practice area, a chipping green
and driving bays.
A longer practice area is located left of the 16th
hole on the Castle Course.
An extensive clubhouse renovation programme
has been completed to ensure that our members
and guests can enjoy five star facilities and
services. The Bar and restaurant facilities have
been upgraded while our new golf shop has been

relocated to the main clubhouse and offers a
wide selection of top branded clothing and golf
accessories.
Lahinch is a remarkable 36 hole Championship
venue, whose growth, vibrancy and spirit are
charted in the pages of its centenary publication
– 125 Years of Golf at Lahinch.
Over the years Lahinch Golf Club has welcomed
many of the greatest players in the world, such
as the Greg Norman, Padraig Harrington, Jum
Furyk, Bubba Watson, and Phil Mickelson who has
been offered Honorary Overseas Life member at
Lahinch.
