There are many things I love about Arizona : the climate , the cosmopolitan and laidback cities , the friendly people , the food and drink scene and the easy-going , outdoors lifestyle among them .

And of course there ’ s the golf . There ’ s one word you hear a lot in America that perfectly sums it up – awesome . Who couldn ’ t love playing on beautifullymanicured fairways and greens amidst stunning desert and mountain settings , and under sunny skies 300 days a year wearing shorts year-round ?
Scottsdale and Tucson are the golf stars in the state and I recently returned to both on a golfing trip for the first time in nine years . You won ’ t be short of choice . Scottsdale boasts more than 200 courses while there are over 40 in the Tucson area . They are also great cities to spend time in , whether you want to explore , get adventurous or just chill out and take in their relaxing vibes .

The Boulders is a glorious hideaway set in the Sonoran Desert about 30 minutes from downtown Scottsdale . It is built around and up onto the slopes of the gigantic granite rocks from which its name derives and which tower over its two magnificent Jay Morrish-designed golf courses .
