student commons supports communal dining, interactive
performances, group learning, and socialization, and student
services such as the student store and technology help desk.
The commons is connected to a large, tiered courtyard with
a deep porch–perfect for outdoor performances, dining, and
pep rallies.
Denton ISD has committed to
transforming learning in both athletics
and fine arts by introducing competition
and training facilities suitable for 5A-6A
classification.
Fine Arts students will gain real world performance,
sound, lighting, rigging, set construction, and audio/visual
technical experiences in the performing arts center and
multiple rehearsal halls. Band, choir, and theater students can
perform in a variety of venues including the auditorium, Black
Box Theater, student commons, outdoor courtyard, and 200seat lecture hall.
Athletes will experience relevant state-of-the-art
competition venues including a track, ample space for field
events, baseball complex, softball complex, gymnasiums, and
tennis courts. All venues are supported by athletic training
and conditioning rooms and safe, well-appointed weight
rooms to balance a student’s physical condition, health, and
well-being.
Braswell High School and the Bill Carrico Athletic

staff and community members, but it has also been a careerlong mission of the school’s namesakes, Ray Braswell and
Bill Carrico. Serving Denton ISD for 33 years, Ray Braswell
used his widely-varied experience as science teacher,
principal, superintendent, and executive director of policy
