District Spotlight
Annie Webb Blanton Elementary
Blanton Elementary is one of three elementary schools
serving the master-planned Lantana community in the
southwest portion of the district. All three of the schools are
named for women with strong ties to education and Denton
County, with Blanton also earning a marker from the Texas
Historical Commission for its namesake, Annie Webb
Blanton, and her work in public education.
That dedicated work ethic continues today with teachers
ȱěȱȱȱȱȱȱȱ
remains among the best in the state while still fun and
ǯȱȱȱȱȱȱȱ¢ȱȱęȱȱ
opportunites through the art club, Squire Choir and Royal
Chamber Orchestra as well get their exercise in through
participation in running club or NFL’s Play 60 program.
The importance of academic achievement is stressed in
the classroom and through activities like robotics, morning
video announcements and tech spaces in the library, where
students can apply technology to their learning and get a
possible idea of careers that they could pursue in the future.
