RX WITHOUT DIAGNOSIS
“In selling and service as
in medicine, prescription
before diagnosis is
malpractice.”
I recently came across that
quote from Jeffrey Gitomer,
and it relates to some of the
hurdles dentists face when
practicing dental sleep
medicine. Oftentimes dentists
want to jump straight to
what we know - treatment.
However, they sometimes
forget to listen to our
patients or ask questions,
and often, the patients
aren’t ready to hear about
treatment yet anyway.
I suggest that the next time
you discuss sleep disordered
breathing with your patients,
ask them questions first and
make sure they’re ready to
hear what you’re saying.
Here are three steps that
should always come before
treatment.: Identify,
Acknowledge and Testing.
