The Clinical Corner:
Fabricate a Device
for a Maxillary
Edentulous Patient
Oftentimes, our older patients in need of oral appliances present
with dental complications. We frequently receive inquiries about
how to treat edentulous patients. For a fully edentulous patient, a
Tongue Retaining Device (TRD) or implants and subsequently, a
Mandibular Advancement Device (MAD) MAD are recommended.
However, for a patient with mandibular dentition but maxillary
edentulism, there is a pretty cool way to treat these patients with a
slightly altered version of a Dorsal or Herbst device.
