A rchformByte is a registered orthodontic laboratory that offers a comprehensive service to clinicians from their purpose-built premises in Sheffield . The set up today is a far cry from the time some 45 years ago , when Clive Hudson took up a teaching post at Sheffield University and , in his spare time , started a company in a small cellar under his home .
At that time there were no cold curing acrylics and so Clive created his own orthodontic appliances with help of his wife , Brenda who was busy flasking and packing Clive ’ s appliances . Soon , however , the business out grew the cellar and so , initially a room was rented in East Sheffield , before larger premises were purchased . Growth continued as Clive ’ s business became more and more successful , involving a couple more moves before the final move to the present premises in Tyler Street , Sheffield in 2006 .
Today , the company is led by its two directors – Pennie Hudson Ward and Mark Francis . There are 10 staff with five technicians and the sales and support staff . The technical team have all qualified in the UK and are all GDC registered . According to Pennie , “ ArchformBye today can make every appliance used for straightening teeth . We offer functional , fixed , removable and Monarch mouthguards , surgical wafers , anti-snoring devices and digital models – in short , if you can describe it , we can make it ! Furthermore , being based in the UK our technical staff are available during normal working hours , by social media or by telephone in case of technical problems or queries .”

From the assessment , the clinician can tell approximately how long treatment will take ( the average is between 6-12 months ) depending on the degree of tooth movement required and therefore the number of positioner stages .

• Support clinicians to ensure that this new skill set will be both professionally satisfying and financially rewarding .
• Allow the clinician to predict a highly accurate treatment outcome .
Attendance also qualifies attendees for 5CPD hours . The course is held at the Kensington Close Hotel in London . The course , which costs £ 200 + VAT , will be led by John Serrano-Davey .
