HEARTLAND ASPHALT RECEIVES DIAMOND COMMENDATION FOR EXCELLENCE Association (NAPA) for the asphalt liquid terminal located in New Madrid, Missouri. The Diamond Terminal Commendation is open to all terminal facilities in the United States and Canada. An asphalt terminal, for the purpose of this program, is a facility that stores asphalt cement binders for the shipment to asphalt mix producers. Mark Shelton, Southeast District Engineer for the Missouri Department of Transportation, served as the 3rd-party verifier for the application. According to Heartland Asphalt Materials has received a Diamond Terminal Commendation for Excellence in Terminal Facility/Site Operations. The commendation comes from the National Asphalt Pavement Don Rosenbarger (Senior Vice President of Operations), “Mark does not ‘grade on the curve.’ His review of the facility and documentation were thorough and complete.” Earning the Diamond Terminal Commendation demonstrates that the company is dedicated to responsible operational practices and high-quality projects through continuous improvement. The Diamond Terminal Commendation is recognition, not an award, which represents a commitment to excellence. Kevin Faulkner (Plant Manager) and his team consisting of Cliff Condict, Jon Powell, Greg Mullins, Becky Nowell, Quentin Kelley, and Laurel McClelland have demonstrated a commitment to produce high quality products for the local community and have been recognized throughout the entire country. CONSTRUCTION REGION RECEIVES THREE NEW DIAMOND COMMENDATIONS The National Asphalt Pavement Association (NAPA) accepts applications each year for the Diamond Quality Commendation. This commendation is a unique program that focuses on plant practices resulting in excellent product quality. Developed in 2009, the areas evaluated in the assessment process are RAP and Aggregate Handling, Asphalt Storage, Drying and Mixing, Air can be accomplished with genuine dedication to responsible practices and continuous improvement. Delta Companies submitted applications and was awarded the Diamond Quality Commendation for three of the asphalt plant facilities: Buncombe Plant in Illinois, Cape Girardeau Plant in Missouri, and Judsonia Plant in Arkansas. The Paragould Plant in Arkansas renewed its Diamond Quality Commendation again this year giving Delta Companies a total of four commendations. This is a testament to Delta’s culture and its employees’ dedication to providing quality products to the customer. “Quality isn’t just measured at the end product, quality is the result of a team effort from beginning to end, and it takes everyone within Delta Companies to make the team a leader in the industry,” states Daryl Masingale (QA/QC Manager).
