SOUTHERN ILLINOIS STONE
During the third quarter, Southern Illinois
Stone (SIS) was busy supplying Southern
Illinois Asphalt Company (SIAC) with an
assortment of different products. SIAC
required asphalt stone and base materials
for projects at I-57/I-64 in Mt. Vernon; US
45; State Routes 146,148 and 37; and I-57
3rd Lane. There were additional projects on
Reed Station Rd., Metropolis Airport, Marion
City St., and Log Cabin Rd.
The City of Mt. Vernon contracted with E.T. Simonds Construction to rebuild Ambassador Dr. which is
alongside the New High School. This job calls for 4,000 tons of CA6 1” Base of which Beelman Trucking
has delivered 2,500 tons to date.
