She traveled to various Delta locations in Missouri, Arkansas, and Illinois to conduct Environmental Checklists at Hot Mix Asphalt (HMA) Plants as well as Quality Control Labs. Keeping records up-to-date, Jordyn reviewed Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plans and Spill Prevention, Control and Countermeasure Plans, and even collected storm water run-off for quarterly testing requirements. Jordyn plans to continue her learning with Delta through her internship as she completes the last requirements for her undergraduate degree. Nibesh “Ni” Amatya –Ni worked with the Regional Controller at Delta’s Missouri Regional Construction Office. As an Accounting major at Southeast Missouri State University (SEMO), Ni worked to help revamp the trucking process within the accounting department. Ni creatively designed a flow chart system manual to keep track of the trucking process – a process that has now been implemented in the Arkansas and Illinois construction regions as well. He also worked with the staff accountants at the Regional Office on inventory, mileage control, payroll, and insurance. “I was really impressed with the internship program at Delta and their determination to make sure the program will provide various and necessary skills to help interns further their careers,” Ni said. One of his favorite parts of the internship was “being able to visit different plants and see the work flow”. Ni will be continuing his internship with Delta through the fall semester at SEMO. He plans to use this experience to further his career in private accounting. Every summer brings a new class of interns to Delta – ready to learn and experience the vast processes of the industry. This past summer proved to be an exceptional group of individuals that quickly became a part of the Delta Family. The goal of the internship program is to help students apply material learned in the classroom to actual work experience. Each intern worked closely with Delta employees in their related fields and was assigned projects or tasks that helped to further understanding of the company. Seth Stevens – During this past summer, interning in the Manufacturing Region with Accounting, Seth worked on tickets and invoicing for the Cape and Williamsville quarries. He entered production, balanced inventory, and created month-ending journal entries. At the end of each month, Seth prepared sales tax documents and categorized sales, providing aid in preparing the B2s. “My favorite part of the internship,” Seth states, “was continuously learning more about a new industry. And the people there are awesome.” Seth will continue to work with Delta at the Missouri Regional Construction Office as he works toward his BSBA in Accounting at Southeast Missouri State University. His future plans include attaining his CPA license. “My favorite part of the internship,” Seth states, “was continuously learning more about a new industry.” Jordyn Richmond – Being an Environmental Science major at Southeast Missouri State University, Jordyn interned in the Safety Department of Delta.
