each location. She traveled to various Delta
locations in Missouri, Arkansas, and Illinois
to conduct Environmental Checklists at Hot
Mix Asphalt (HMA) Plants as well as Quality
Control Labs. Keeping records up-to-date,
Jordyn reviewed Storm Water Pollution
Prevention Plans and Spill Prevention,
Control and Countermeasure Plans, and
even collected storm water run-off for
quarterly testing requirements. Jordyn plans
to continue her learning with Delta through
her internship as she completes the last
requirements for her undergraduate degree.
Nibesh “Ni” Amatya –Ni worked with
the Regional Controller at Delta’s Missouri
Regional Construction Office. As an
Accounting major at Southeast Missouri
State University (SEMO), Ni worked to
help revamp the trucking process within
the accounting department. Ni creatively
designed a flow chart system manual to
keep track of the trucking process – a
process that has now been implemented
in the Arkansas and Illinois construction
regions as well. He also worked with the
staff accountants at the Regional Office
on inventory, mileage control, payroll, and
insurance. “I was really impressed with
the internship program at Delta and their
determination to make sure the program
will provide various and necessary skills to
help interns further their careers,” Ni said.
One of his favorite parts of the internship
was “being able to visit different plants and
see the work flow”. Ni will be continuing
his internship with Delta through the fall
semester at SEMO. He plans to use this
experience to further his career in private
accounting.
Every summer brings a new class
of interns to Delta – ready to learn and
experience the vast processes of the
industry. This past summer proved to be an
exceptional group of individuals that quickly
became a part of the Delta Family. The goal
of the internship program is to help students
apply material learned in the classroom to
actual work experience.
Each intern worked closely with Delta
employees in their related fields and was
assigned projects or tasks that helped to
further understanding of the company.
Seth Stevens – During this past summer,
interning in the Manufacturing Region with
Accounting, Seth worked on tickets and
invoicing for the Cape and Williamsville
quarries. He entered production, balanced
inventory, and created month-ending
journal entries. At the end of each month,
Seth prepared sales tax documents and
categorized sales, providing aid in preparing
the B2s. “My favorite part of the internship,”
Seth states, “was continuously learning
more about a new industry. And the people
there are awesome.” Seth will continue to
work with Delta at the Missouri Regional
Construction Office as he works toward his
BSBA in Accounting at Southeast Missouri
State University. His future plans include
attaining his CPA license.
“My favorite part of the
internship,” Seth states,
“was continuously learning
more about a new
industry.”
Jordyn Richmond – Being an
Environmental Science major at Southeast
Missouri State University, Jordyn interned
in the Safety Department of Delta. Jordyn
learned much about permits--as part of
her internship required reviewing Air, Water,
and Mining permits to ensure compliance in
