During a recent trip to the Capitol in Jefferson City,
Missouri, Delta Companies Inc’s Vice President
of Operations, Don Rosenbarger, met with
numerous legislators. The trip intended to promote
a robust, comprehensive, long-term transportation
funding solution for Missouri. In addition to the
message of the day – regarding transportation
funding or the lack thereof – Delta extended
invitations to legislators to visit its operations.
Senator Wayne Wallingford, Missouri Senate
District 27, accepted the invitation and visited
Delta’s Cape Girardeau facilities on June 1,
2015. The tour began at the corporate office
and continued to the Cape Complex, which
consists of an aggregate quarry, ready-mixed
concrete plant, asphalt plant, equipment
shop, and quality control laboratory. The visit
included a brief presentation of the Delta
Companies overall with a focus on Missouri.
The presentation covered the economic impact
the company has on the local economy;

through the number of employees, the
number of vendor and supplier employees,
and the taxes paid due to its operations. It
concluded with several slides provided by
the National Asphalt Pavement Association
(NAPA) and the Missouri Asphalt Pavement
Association (MAPA) illustrating the need for
transportation and infrastructure funding.
Don Rosenbarger, Tracy Loyd (CFO & Vice
President of Finance), Jerry Farnham (Plants
& Equipment Manager), Rick Moody (Regional
Manager for Construction), Dan Grier (Regional
Manager for Manufacturing), Randy Hobbs
(Area Manager for Ready Mix), and Mike Martin
(Area Manager for Aggregates) presented
an overview of Delta’s Missouri operations.
The Senator had numerous questions and
delivered his own presentation and comments
regarding current legislative issues.
Senator Wallingford met with many Delta
employees, and yes – he was wearing
proper personal protection equipment.
The Senator seemed very interested in
the transportation industry and Delta’s
operations, and even expressed an interest
in visiting a road crew later this year.
June 1st was also Intern Orientation Day at
Delta, so the Senator seized the opportunity
to discuss his varied and remarkable work
history and life experiences, and to share
a few “words of wisdom” for a successful
life with eight eager and attentive college
students during lunch (in addition to
members of the Delta management team).
Senator Wallingford is in his first term in the
Missouri Senate after serving one term in the
Missouri House of Representatives, and is the
Vice-Chair of the Ways and Means Committee.
