HONORING THE MEMORIES OF GALE MILLER It is with great sorrow that the Delta Family says goodbye to Roger “Gale” Miller. Gale was a Sales Representative covering the MO Bootheel and Northern Arkansas regions for Delta’s manufacturing division. Gale was the quintessential “go to” guy. He was the leader at Sikeston Concrete for many years, before being promoted to Ready Mix Plant Manager for the “While we are mourning the loss of our friend, others are rejoicing to meet him behind the veil.” - John Taylor Cape Girardeau, Jackson, and Fruitland plants. As a prankster, Gale was gleeful when he could trick people into doing things they did not want to do. Randy Hobbs (Operations Manager) describes Gale as an “instigator”. “I remember at one point me, Gale, and Doug Tuttle (Ready Mix Driver) decided to play a trick on our office clerk. Each night we would twist her office chair a couple of turns in order to lower it – just enough to not be very noticeable. We kept this up for a week before she realized how low it had gotten. We had to stop her from ‘fixing’ her ‘broken chair’ when she showed up with a hammer and a screwdriver. She was so furious with us – but I’m sure she got us back at some point!” Randy laughed. Gale served his country with distinction in the United States Air Force and his service was commemorated with full military honors. The Duke Blue Devils was Gale’s favorite team. He was an avid basketball fan. He could not let a Duke winning score go unmentioned, without sending a clipping to Debbi Robinson (a Kentucky fan). At every opportunity, Gale could be found at Dexter ballgames, rooting on his grandchildren. Gale was a mentor and a leader. He never asked anyone to do anything that he would not do. “I loved that Gale was such a straight shooter – he did not “We already miss sugar coat Gale. He was a a situation friend and a great and would person – he cared simply call it about the people he like he saw worked with and the it. He taught company he worked me about concrete for,” –Dan Grier productions – slump, fly ash, and truck dispatching,” shared Debbi Robinson (HR Manager). Memories of Gale will always hold dear to everyone whose life he touched. “We already miss Gale. He was a friend and a great person – he cared about the people he worked with and the company he worked for,” said Dan Grier (Manufacturing Regional Manager). Delta Companies, through Delta Concrete, donated six yards of concrete to the project. Gavin’s project was constructing a concrete pad at Hanover Lutheran Church in Cape Girardeau. The purpose of the pad is to help with the high foot-traffic area between two of the church buildings. Rain would puddle between the two buildings, creating a muddy mess, especially if there was a church function. The success of the project would not have been possible without the support of Delta Companies. Gavin, the church Elders, and the congregation have all expressed their gratitude for the donation. Gavin is the nephew of Shannon Sinn (Missouri Region QC Manager) and the grandson of Jim Brown, a retired SEMO Stone employee. www.deltacos.com | 9
