ARKANSAS FINISHES SEASON AHEAD DESPITE WEATHER Searcy with 102,000 square yards of millings; a 2,950 ton asphalt overlay on Mt. Zion Road and South Shelton Road in Van Buren County; a 2,790 ton asphalt overlay on Silver Ridge Road and Tannenbaum Road in Cleburne County; a 400 ton asphalt overlay on Capital Quarries Johnson Church Road in Pocahontas; a 1,416 ton asphalt overlay on Main Street and School Street in Keiser; and the newly constructed Paragould Bypass that will connect Highway 412 East to Highway 49. Delta started asphalt portions on the bypass on July 23, 2014 and the road crew wrapped up the job this month, totaling around 57,000 tons of binder and surface courses. In the September letting, Delta outbid three other contractors, landing a job valued at a little more than $25,000,000. The job consists of 210,000 tons of asphalt and will run from just north of Highway 18 in Blytheville to the Missouri State line on Interstate 55. The existing road is concrete, which will be rubblized and topped with base, binder and surface courses.
