Retirement – Life after Delta “Happiness is being retired and spending all of my kids’ inheritance before I die!” Congratulations to the most recent Delta retirees! Your contributions to the betterment of Delta Companies will continue for years to come. You made us smile – you made our work more enjoyable and your presence made our company better. We will miss you. Enjoy your new adventure!! Bill Penrod retired on June 20, 2014, from Southern Illinois Stone (SIS) after 45 years of service. Co-workers met at the SIS facility to honor Bill with good food and the sharing of fond memories. At the luncheon, Bill was presented with an engraved pocket watch and a plaque. Good luck and best wishes in all your future endeavors! Tom Blattel r e t i r e d from Delta Companies, Inc. on July 7, 2014 – after 40 years, 10 m o n t h s and 4 days. In his honor, a luncheon was provided by Dexter Barbeque. Well-wishers included retirees, former President Joe Regenhardt, Victor Patterson, and Larry Harris, as well as other employees. Now that Tom has traded in his hard hat in for a fishing hat, everyone at Delta wishes Tom and his wife, Barb, the best in retirement. You will be dearly missed – thank you for your continued loyalty and amazing work, Tom! Congratulations! Gordon Bradley, a long-time member of Team SEMO (Southeast Missouri Stone) retired after 16 years as a dedicated employee. A luncheon was held in his honor at Southeast Missouri Stone, with many colleagues in attendance to celebrate this milestone. During the luncheon, Gordon was given a plaque to commemorate the contributions he exhibited throughout his time at SEMO. Although he officially began his retirement journey on August 5, 2014, it has began said that his wife already has his work lined out for another 16 years. A big “thank you” to Gordon – enjoy your new adventure in life – and your honey-do list! Due to Del’s interest in sports, the office celebrated by wearing “Dress Like Del’s Favorite Sports Team” – Cardinals, Red Hawks, or the Leopold Wildcats. Although Del has lots of statistical bologna in his head, not many could question the validity of what he rambles off – for no one could remember data like Del. His wife, Theresa, will make sure his days are filled with grandchildren, trips, and honey do’s. Del, everyone in your Delta Family wishes you the best and will miss you! Good Luck! Dress Like Del Day Del Elfrink’s day of reckoning was August 1, 2014. In celebration, the office had a “ D r e s s like Del Day” – in which employees wore ties and collar shirts to honor Del and his professional wardrobe of 33 years, 10 months, and 10 days at Delta Companies, Inc. It may seem to be the “old school of dress” code, but in his retirement comments, Del spoke of how proud his Mom was of her son and his professional attire. Coworkers will always remember his uniform with respect and admiration. Del was (and still is!) very professional and will be fondly remembered for his dedication to Delta and (most importantly) his sense of humor. Delta Companies Inc. 2014 Newsletter | ISSUE 3 3
