Delta to Replace Current Citibank Payroll Card Delta will soon begin implementing a new Visa payroll card to replace the Citibank Visa card currently in use. As Citibank ends their payroll card program, Delta will switch to the U.S. Bank Focus Card in the form of a payroll Visa card. Employees will need to bring their balance on existing Citibank payroll cards to $0.00. Funds will not be transferred from the old card to the new U.S. Bank payroll card. Funds left on Citibank payroll cards (with no activity on the account) will be assessed administrative fees. The U.S. Bank payroll card can be used anywhere that accepts Visa debit cards. There is no cost to make purchases in stores, over the phone, or online. U.S. Bank offers many benefits to cardholders, including: • Cash withdraw at any Visa/Plus ATM (fees may apply) • Withdraw up to the penny of their paycheck at a teller with no cost at any bank or credit union that accepts Visa • Cash back when they make purchases at places like the grocery store or convenience store by selecting “DEBIT” and “YES” for cash back • Cash back rewards for purchases at certain retail and restaurant locations • Ability to create an interest-bearing Savings account • Track spending online (free of charge) or by mobile app, text alerts, and email Funds to the U.S. Bank payroll card will be loaded automatically each payday and available for use right away. Employees who are currently enrolled in the Citibank Visa payroll card will be automatically enrolled in the U.S. Bank Focus payroll card program. Human Resources will notify these employees prior to the transition as details become more readily available. For updated information concerning the new U.S. Bank Focus payroll card program, check the Employee Portal at www.deltacos.com or call Human Resources at 573-334-5261. LYNC: A Tool for Your Belt Technology provides many tools to assist in accomplishing a variety of tasks enabling an increase in efficiency and productivity. Smartphones, laptops, tablets, mi-fi cards, email, word processors, JDE, Colas Office; the list can go on and on. However, there is another tool (frequently overlooked) to add to that vast array of necessities to make it through the day: Lync 2010. Packaged on all Delta laptops and desktops, this little program packs quite a few surprises - video chatting, audio chatting, text messaging, and online meetings, just to name a few. Basically it provides a variety of different ways to interact with anyone within the Colas Group. Now the question becomes: How can this fit onto an already full tool belt? The answer is to think of Lync as a reinforcement – a tool that will fit on (and add to) any other tool on that belt. The many facets of Lync In Lync, one can send messages and use voice and video - provided the necessary equipment is available, such as a webcam and microphone of sorts (direct questions concerning this to the Regional Controller or Delta I.T.). File sharing and desktop sharing (or just some applications within it) with other callers is not only useful, but easy as well. When viewing someone’s desktop, a caller is able to use view only mode (i.e. watching a presentation, attending an online meeting, etc.), or a caller can be allowed to gain control of the mouse and keyboard of the desktop being viewed (i.e. support helping with an issue, demonstrating to someone how to perform a task, etc.). Video chatting and placing Lync calls (no more hunting for that extension) are great, but there are still many benefits to this great tool - texting is one of those. It seems the “good ole days” of remembering someone’s phone number, picking the phone up, and talking for hours on end (perhaps yelling at other family members to get off the line) are a thing of the past. Enter texting: simple, efficient, and to the point with no clutter. “What’s going on?” “Let’s go eat.” “Want to play ball?” Emails have become a thing of the norm. It is easy to shoot someone an email with a one line question in the subject line and no body, or a simple subject with a one line question in the body. That is Instant Messaging (texting) in hiding. What is the difference? Clutter – there is now one more message in the Inbox: one more thing to read, process, and ultimately delete. With Lync all that is needed is a double click of the mouse, typing of the question, then getting an answer and moving on with the day. On-line Meetings In the fast-paced business world of today, an impromptu meeting is sometimes the only option. Imagine chatting (or pinging) with someone on Lync regarding a big project…when suddenly a question arises that really needs to be explored with at least one more person. Lync makes it easy to see if that other person is online (green square by a name in Lync signifies that person is available),and invite that person to the chat. Perhaps a quick instant message discussion will not get the entire job done and a call is in order. Almost instantly all parties are talking (in real time); this happening all from the computer with a few clicks of the button. Or add video to the meeting. Does a user need to share that AutoCad design? Done. As with all new th ings in technology comes new lingo. According to Andy Perry, IT Manager, “There is no need for new users to freak out; it’s just a geek’s way of wanting awesome language associated with an awesome tool. Pinging is another way of saying “Texting” or “Chatting” for instance. At any rate, Lync is a cool tool worthy of a chance to meet the demands of the hectic business day.” Delta employees should give it a try – nothing can be broken…just as long as they are cautious of the call and video buttons, otherwise they could end up calling someone they did not intend to. As always, the I.T. Department is available to help with any questions - and they not only love cool things, but also enjoy helping employees apply it to daily processes, in the hope that it too will make the work day a little easier. where is that shovel?
