BRUNO JINKS - SERVICE DOG IN TRAINING Meet RFI’s Bruno! Who is he and what does he do? Bruno is a 3 month old yellow lab that is currently in foster care with Scott, Leigh and Landon Jinks (Aggregate Region). The Jinks Family has been raising and training retrievers, as well as competing in retriever hunt tests and field trials for years, so seeing them with a new pup is nothing new. However, Bruno is something special. He is a future Retrieving Freedom, Inc. (RFI) Service dog. The Jinks’ pick up Bruno from Charles Dwyer, Co-Founder of RFI at eight weeks old and will be staying with them until he is six months old. Then he will leave the Jinks’ for his formal service dog training at one of RFI’s location. What is Retrieving Freedom, Inc.? It is a non-profit ADI organization, that specializes in training service dogs for Veterans with PTSD and children with autism. In addition, RFI has trained diabetic alert dogs. It costs approximately $25,000 to fully train a service dog, and RFI does it all through donations. More information about RFI and service dogs can be found at www.retrievingfreedom.org. Currently, Bruno is learning how to handle different environments, socialization with other dogs and people, and basic obedience. He has visited with the Veterans and staff at the VA home in Cape Girardeau, several local merchants, and of course, has been checking out the offices at Delta’s Corporate Office.
