ARTS&LETTERS
By: Soror Alice Bennett
Jacksonville
(FL) Alumnae Chapter showed their support of the National Arts and Letters Red Carpet Movie
“A Chance in the World.”
The evening began with a dinner chat & chew before
the movie at Seven Bridges restaurant.; both Sorors
and friends attended. Soror Bennett distributed a fact
sheet about the movie that was used to engage
everyone in a lively discussion about what to anticipate
from the upcoming feature. Soror
challenged participating sorors to a google search to find
interesting facts about our Soror Kelly Owens who
Bennett
also
was featured in the movie.
Sorors shared personal stories about their experiences
with the foster care system. It was an awesome prelude
to get ready to see the movie.
The Dinner Chat & Chew group joined other Sorors
at Cinemax Tinseltown Theater, while Sorors on the
westside of town met at AMC Orange Park Theater to
view the movie.
“A Chance in the World,” based on the award-
winning book by the same name is the unbelievably
true story of Steve Pemberton, a wounded and broken
boy destined to become a man of resilience and vision from his horrific experience in the foster care
system.
The movie taught us that no matter how broken our past, if we resolve not to give in to the brokenness, we
can create new beginnings and a better life.
Sorors Belinda Fulton, Debbie McNeil and
Juliet Rogers gather at the Orange Park
location to view the film.
Sorors Alice Bennett, Rita Scott, Dee Dee Ellis, Veronica Tutt,
Kimberly Stephens, Myrtle Turner and Barbara Green gather at the
Tinseltown location to view the film.
