By : Soror Rita Scott
Soror Patricia Godboldt has been a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority , Inc . for 49 years ! She was initiated into the Delta Alpha Chapter of Bethune-Cookman College on December 10 , 1969 . Past National President Frankie Muse Freeman signed her certificate of membership . At Bethune Cookman , Soror Godboldt served as Miss Delta Sigma Theta in 1971 . Since being a member of Jacksonville Alumnae Chapter , Soror Godboldt has been a passionate servant leader . She puts her heart and soul into everything she does . She has chaired and served on several committees : Arts & Letters ( Chair ), BSA / GEMS , Founders Day , Health and Fitness - Power of Prevention ( Co- Chair ), Information-Technology-Communication , Membership - Reclamation ( Chair ), Ritual and Ceremonies , Social Action and Social Welfare ( Chair ). It is important to note , during Soror Godboldt ’ s leadership of the Reclamation Committee , the chapter received the Reclamation award in Washington , DC during the 100th year National Convention .
It was during the time of serving on the Founders Day Committee where Soror Godboldt developed a kinship for one of the twenty-two founders , Winona Cargile Alexander , whose final resting place is here in Jacksonville . Soror Godboldt had a vision of “ Preserving the Legacy ” of a Founder of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority , Inc . and was diligent in making it come to pass . While serving as the Project Manager on this three year endeavor , ‘ running the race with patience ’ was her most challenging task . “ The Gravesite Unveiling was the culmination of a vision placed in my spirit that God would not allow me to ignore or walk away from until He said , it is finished ,” she commented . On June 9 , 2018 , the Jacksonville Alumnae Chapter along with Founder Alexander ’ s family and other distinguished guests witnessed the gravesite unveiling of a beautiful marker . It was an unprecedented and unforgettable moment in chapter and sorority history . Jacksonville Alumnae is forever grateful for Soror Godboldt ’ s vision and tireless efforts to make this endeavor a success ! She is a precious gem and a great asset to the organization .
Sisterly words of advice from Soror Godboldt , “ Being an organization that is founded on Christian principles , there is always an opportunity to exercise your faith and it will sustain you when life offers its challenges .”
