46th Southern By: Soror Altoria White The Jacksonville Alumnae Chapter represented in Nashville with more than 70 members attending the four-day event. From the breathtaking opening and the inspirational and informative workshops, to the uplifting ecumenical and powerful closing, the 46th Southern Regional Conference will be one to remember. The 26th National President, Beverly Smith spoke to the theme: Joy in Our Sisterhood, Power in Our Voice, Service in Our Hearts. She encouraged sorors to be fiscally responsible— She advised of the sorority’s need to be fiscally responsible, sorors responsibility to be not only financial but active and our duty to reclaim sorors. President Smith also emphasized “seeing yourself in leadership,” and making sure there is a diversity of sorors in every position—ages, talents, and locations. There were several engaging workshops held throughout the conference focused on training, teaching and informing sorors. A very popular workshop, which gained a lot of attention was the leadership workshop, “Leading with Purpose: Lessons In Leadership—A Conversation.” Presenters included Past National Presidents Rev. Dr. Gwendolyn E. Boyd, Dr. Louise A. Rice and Cynthia M.A. Butler-McIntyre and focused on assets of a leader, risks and outcomes, and work/Delta/life balance. JAC’s own Christina Stallings presented a workshop on Embracing Leadership Competencies along with other members of the National Leadership Academy Committee. 10
