Habitat Steward Training Series
Led by Lori Athey & Delaware Nature Society staff
Learn how to create habitat in the garden . Topics include site analysis , plant selection , design for happy critters and neighbors , and sustainable gardening practices . Garden visits and a resource notebook included . Some homework required for certification . Trip to Newark , a Certified Wildlife Habitat Community , is included . Join naturalist extraordinaire Jim White in exploring the diverse habitats of the Peterson Urban Wildlife Refuge . Participate in an illustrated and hands-on program that will take you deep into the fascinating world of the refuge ’ s wild residents . Dogfish Head beer and snacks provided .

Naturalist Certification Series
Whether you are just beginning your interest in nature , or wish to gain greater depth of understanding of local ecosystems , take advantage of this spring through fall course ! Learn about the ecology of the Piedmont region and the flora and fauna that reside here during eight lectures and eight field trips led by experts . Each participant will complete a field and classroom notebook to become certified . School teachers can receive 60 hours of in-service credit .
